British Museum - "Old Blue Eyes" Head of a Statue

"Old Blue Eyes" Head of a Statue from the temple of Artemis at Ephesus. Circa 350 - 300 BCE.

Traces of Egyptian blue pigment in the eyes give it its name.

Traces of red pigment is visible on the skin, and traces of egyptian blue, are visible under special light in the eyes.

Exhibited at the British Museum, London. UK.
