The Roman Forum cryptoportico and porrtico reconstruction. Emporion Roman town, 1st century AD.
The sign at Emporion archaeological site reads: CRYPTOPORTICO AND PORTICO (1st century AD)
The northern part of the forum was demarcated by a cryptoporticus consisting of three semi-subterranean galleries in a U-shape, of which perimeter walls and the lower tambours of the central colonnade are preserved. Built on top of this level, which has been partially reconstructed at the north-east corner there was a second floor with a double portico that delimited the religious area of the forum. In the subsoil, you can see some silos for storing cereal, corresponding to an earlier phase.
