LIFE WHERE THERE IS NOW DESERT
Rock engravings from El Aslein Bukerch (Western Sahara), made with two different techniques: incision and percussion (or multiple percussion). The representations of oxen and antelopes in a currently desert area indicate that in the past the Sahara area was completely different and enjoyed a milder climate than today. The engravings could correspond to the early Holocene (between 12,000 and 7,000 years ago) or the middle Holocene (between 6,500 and 5,550 years ago).

Exhibited at the Catalan Museum of Archaeology, Barcelona, Spain. Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya (MAC).
