Wax tablet (tabula cerata) and stylus (stilus).
Wax Tablet: Usually made of wood (often boxwood) or ivory with a recessed interior filled with a thin layer of dark-tinted beeswax.
Stylus: A dual-purpose tool made of bronze or iron. One end was pointed for scratching letters into the wax, and the other end was flat and spatulate for smoothing the wax over to "delete" or correct text—hence the term tabula rasa (clean slate).
Exhibited at the Catalan Museum of Archaeology, Barcelona, Spain. Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya (MAC).
