Sword. 1800-1550 BCE. Arsenical copper Arenero de La Peria (Vilaverde, Madrid), Spain.
The sword was a weapon owned by men of the dominant class. Its appearance coincides with the maximum territorial expansion of the Argaric. Most of the swords of this period known in the Iberian Peninsula are located within the Argaric territory and some bordering settlements and underline the existence of a border. The sword of La Perla (Madrid), made of arsenical copper, is technologically and typologically related to the Argaric ones.
Exhibited at the Catalan Museum of Archaeology, Barcelona, Spain. Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya (MAC).
