Tanit was the tutelary and protective goddess of Carthage, the great Punic metropolis of the central Mediterranean. Her cult was of great importance, and spread throughout the area of ​​Punic influence. She was a divinity of a lunar nature,
linked to the agricultural cycle, and also to fecundity and fertility, like a Great Mother. Numerous
votive representations of Tanit have been found in Ibiza.
