Aphaia Warrior Heads

Fragmented warrior heads from the sanctuary of Aphaia in Aegina Island. They were found in the cistern at the northwestern corner of the sanctuary. Initially it was believed that they belonged to the temple pediment, but now it is widely accepted that they were not fragment from the temple, but belonged to other sculptural arrangements from the sanctuary. Circa 490 BCE. National Archaeological Museum, Athens, Greece.
