Gold Cup with Bull Hunt
A golden cup from the Mycenaean tholos tomb at Vaphio in Laconia. It is decorated with a dramatic scene of hunting wild bulls in repousse. In this view a wild bull has run over a man who is depicted in mid-air with arms outstretched helplessly as the bull leaps over him. Just to the right of this view another bull has been caught in a large net that is tied between two trees. Circa 1500 1450 BCE.
