This unique golden goat was found in Akrotiri inside a wooden box, which was inside a clay larnaz. It was found alongside a large pile of goat horns.

According to the information at the Thera Prehistoric Museum "The figurine is hollow and was cast by the lost-wax (cire-perdue) method. The legs, neck and tail of the animal were soldered on after the removal of the inside core. In hte finishing process the figurine was hammered, as deduced from the tool-marks."
