Korai facial expressions in early and late years. Peplophoros (left) 530 BCE, and Eythidikos Kore (right), 480 BCE.
This image shows the different disposition of the statues' expression across time. The early archaic Kore known as Peplophoros has a more care-free and joyous attitude, featuring the characteristic smile of the early korai sculptures, while Eythidikos Kore, which was made fifty years later in 480 BCE, shows the austere facial expression found across the Late Archaic Era and early Classical sculptures.
