Relief slabwith a scene of a lion attacking a bull. Circa 500 BCE.
Relief slab A 759 with a scene of a lion attacking a bull.
This slab, together with the slab A 758, was found in the floor of the church of «Ekatontapyliani» in 1960. The two slabs probably come from the socalled Archilocheion, a monument dedicated to the great lyric poet of Paros, Archilochos, who was killed during a battle against the Naxians.
Archilochos is buried near the river Elytas, where the Archilocheion was built.
circa 500 B.C.
