Coins from the Roses (Rhode) mint, Spain. 3d. century BCE.
Rhode issued, during the 3rd century BC, several silver drachma mintings. On the obverse there was the head of a goddess together with the legend POAETON alluding to its inhabitants, while, on the reverse, the image of a rose seen from below symbolized the name of the city.
In addition to some silver fractions, bronze issues of lower value are also known from this colonial mint, often re-minted on Punic coins from Sardinia.
