Το αρχαίο θέατρο είναι χτισμένο σε μια φυσική κοιλότητα της πλαγιάς, προσφέροντας πανοραμική θέα στον κόλπο της Μήλου και το Αιγαίο Πέλαγος. Η τοποθεσία αυτή επιλέχθηκε στρατηγικά κατά την Ελληνιστική περίοδο για να ενσωματώσει τη θεατρική εμπειρία στο εντυπωσιακό ηφαιστειακό τοπίο του νησιού.
