Unfinished funerary statue of a sphinx. 2nd c. BCE.

Exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece. Marble.
Found on Delos. The sphinx is depicted seated on a rock with her wings spread. She leans with her right elbow on the mouth of a cinerary hydria standing on a rectangular base, and touches the belly of the vase with her left hand.
