Relief with a female figure in peplos. 430 - 420 BCE.

Relief with a female figure in peplos.
Depicts a young female figure, wearing a thin peplos, which clings to the body and is arranged in dense, deep folds. She was probably wearing a metal belt, fastened in the two holes at her waist. As the figure moves to the left, her transparent garment is blowing behind her. She is holding in her right hand a round object, while in her left, which is extended, she holds another round object, probably a basket with offerings. A similar shoulder, which was found in the same area, suggests that the relief continued with another similar figure. The relief and the shoulder were found in the same area with a circular stepped monument and graves of Hellenistic-Roman period, a few meters from the Museum. This relief probably belonged to the plastic decoration of a temple. circa 430 - 420 B.C.
