The small marble statue, popularly known as the Rhodes Venus, is a 1st-century BCE remodeling of a 3rd-century BCE prototype attributed to the sculptor Doidalsas [1]. This work exemplifies the decorative aesthetic of the late Hellenistic period, where traditional religious themes were adapted for the private ornamentation of wealthy residences, nymphaia, and gardens [1]. The figure is depicted in a crouching posture characteristic of the "Bathing Aphrodite" type, reflecting the island's prominent role in the dissemination of refined, intimate sculptural forms across the Aegean [2].

Το μικρό μαρμάρινο άγαλμα, γνωστό ως η Αφροδίτη της Ρόδου, αποτελεί μεταπλασμένη απόδοση ενός τύπου του 3ου αιώνα π.Χ., η δημιουργία του οποίου αποδίδεται στον γλύπτη Δοιδάλση [1]. Το έργο αυτό αποτελεί εύγλωττο δείγμα της διακοσμητικής διάθεσης που επικρατούσε στην αισθητική του 1ου αιώνα π.Χ., όταν τέτοια αγαλματίδια κοσμούσαν εσωτερικούς χώρους εύπορων κατοικιών, νυμφαία, καθώς και ιδιωτικούς ή δημόσιους κήπους [1]. Η μορφή αποδίδεται σε οκλάζουσα στάση, χαρακτηριστική του τύπου της «Λουομένης Αφροδίτης», αντικατοπτρίζοντας τον σημαντικό ρόλο του νησιού στη διάδοση εκλεπτυσμένων και ιδιωτικών γλυπτικών μορφών στο Αιγαίο [2].
