The ancient city was surrounded by fortifications approximately 4 kilometers in length. Built using the pseudo-isodomic system, the fortifications date to the 5th century BC, with some potential repairs occurring during the 4th century BC. An internal cross-wall (diateichisma) measuring approximately 850 meters in length was constructed during a later phase, dividing the city into two distinct sections. The Temple of Zeus and the agora were located to the west of this partition, while the city's theater was positioned to the east.
Η αρχαία πόλη περιβαλλόταν από οχύρωση, μήκους περίπου 4 χλμ. Η οχύρωση, κτισμένη κατά το ψευδοϊσόδομο σύστημα, χρονολογείται τον 5ο αι. π.Χ., ενώ κάποιες επισκευές σε αυτήν ενδέχεται να έγιναν τον 4ο αι. π.Χ. Ένα εσωτερικό διατείχισμα, μήκους περίπου 850μ., που κτίστηκε σε μεταγενέστερη φάση, χώριζε την πόλη σε δύο μέρη. Στα δυτικά αυτού βρισκόταν ο ναός του Διός και η αγορά, και στα ανατολικά το θέατρο της πόλης.
