The Discobolus (Δισκοβόλος = the disk thrower) statue. Roman copy of a Greek bronze original from around 460–450 BCE.

The original bronze Discobolus statue from the Classical era is lost to us, but there are several copies in existence in various sizes. The one depicted here is exhibited at the Vatican Museums, Italy. It is made of marble, and it is copied full-size.
