The theater was an area where spectators witnessed events unfolding in the courtyard. We don’t have information on what kinds of events there were (the term “theater” is loosely used when referring to the Minoan palaces). There could be athletic events, religious processions, athletic contests, community gatherings and speeches, etc.– we do not know for certain, but similar theatrical areas are present in all the other Minoan palaces of Crete.
