Bull Rhyton

Bull Rhyton from Knossos. Minoan, 1650 - 1450 BCE.

Rhyton (libation vase) in the shape of a bull's head. Made of serpentine, with inlays of shell, rock crystal and jasper in the muzzle and eyes. Found in Knossos Minoan palace, in the temple repository. New-Palace period (1600 - 1500 BCE). Exhibited at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum in Crete, Greece.
