Το αρχαίο θέατρο βρίσκεται σε μια ειδυλλιακή τοποθεσία με θέα στον γαλήνιο κόλπο και τους μακρινούς ηφαιστειακούς λόφους του Αιγαίου. Αυτή η προνομιακή θέση προσέφερε ένα εντυπωσιακό σκηνικό για τις πολιτιστικές και πολιτικές συγκεντρώσεις, όπου οι θεατές παρακολουθούσαν τις παραστάσεις αγναντεύοντας παράλληλα τη θαλάσσια κίνηση.
