Found near the church of Ayios Dimitrios Katiforis in Plaka, Athens.
Height: 0.73 m.
From a group depicting Theseus and the Minotaur. […] The torso of the Minotaur is pre-served together with the head; the entire right arm and the left hand from the wrist are missing. Both pieces have been reassembled and restored with plaster in several places. There is a deep hole pierced in the Minotaur’s mouth, indicating that it served as a waterspout and that the group stood on a fountain. Roman copies of a group depicting Theseus and the Minotaur executed in the Early Classical period by Myron, which was erected on the Acropolis near the group of Athena and Marsyas.
